Established by Friedrich Bayer and his partner Johann Friedrich Weskott, sometimes in the year 1863 at Barmen in Germany, Bayer AG is the chemical and pharmaceutical corporation known across the world today. The current headquarters of the Bayer AG is situated at Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. Bayer AG is certainly better known by the world pharmaceutical industry for its original brand of ASPIRIN.
Bayer AG was converted in to the Holding Company during December 2003 for distinguishing operational and strategic managements by converting the key business of the group into limited companies fully controlled and managed by Bayer AG. These entities are such as: Bayer CropScience AG, Bayer HealthCare AG, Bayer MaterialScience AG and Bayer Chemicals AG besides three limited companies in the service sector like: Bayer Technology Services GmbH, Bayer Business Services GmbH and Bayer Industry Services GmbH & Co. OHG.
The new company named Lanxess was also constituted following the successful recognition of Bayer’s chemical activities that combined with some elements of polymers division on July 01, 2004. Bayer is being managed by the board of managements comprising of members named: Klaus Kuhn, Wolfgang Plischke, Richard Pott and Werner Wenning.
The OTC Pharmaceutical division of Roche Group was formally taken over by Bayer HealthCare AG in the year 2004. The first major product of Bayer AG was Acetylsalicylic acid which was primarily invented by a French chemist named Charles Frederic Gerhardt during 1853, the alteration of salicylic acid or Salicin – the generic drug found in the Bark of Willow.
The products range includes: Adalat, Admire, Basta, Bariton, Calypso, Cipro, Decis, Desmodur, Fantasia, Fandango, Gaucho, Husar, Input, Koganate, Levitra, Liberty, Merit, Oberon and so on.
