Eli Lilly & Company is ranked amongst the biggest international pharmaceutical enterprises of the world today. The international headquarters of the company is situated at Indianapolis, Indiana in the United States of America. Eli Lilly & Company was established way back sometimes in the year 1876 by the pharmaceutical chemist named Eli Lilly after whom the company has been lately designated.

Colonel Eli Lilly – the pharmacist who served as the Union Officer during the American Civil War purchased a laboratory located in the Pearl Street in Indianapolis some 1340 years ago and initiated Eli Lilly & Company there. His pioneering techniques of gelatin coating pills proved to be the pillar of success for his company. Following the demise of Eli Lilly in the year 1889, his son Josiah K. Lilly Sr. took over the reins of the company. The boy had inherited his father’s social-natured quality and ordered the company for fulfilling the most required medications for sustaining revival pains following the San Francisco earthquake during 1906.
