Mitsubishi Pharma Corporation is Japanese pharmaceutical company which is the subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation, founded in 2001 through amalgamation of Mitsubishi Tokyo Pharmaceuticals & Welfide Corporation. Chobei Takeda & Co & Nippon Kasei Chemical Co founded Takeda Kasei Co in 1940 which is known as Takeda Pharmaceutical Company having its original manufacturing unit at Higashi-Yoshitomi-Mura, Fukuoka Prefecture. This company was renamed as Yoshitomi Pharmaceutical Co and got enlisted on Tokyo & Osaka Stock Exchange in 1949.
During 1950, Blood Plasma Corporation of Japan was formed with headquarters and production unit at Osaka which changed its name to Green Cross Corporation during 1964. This company was then taken over by Yoshitomi Pharmaceuticals during 1998 and was renamed as Welfide Corporation in 2000. During 1901 Motosaburo Tanabe founded a pharmacy in Tokyo and incorporated it during 1921 as Motosaburo Tanabe Shoten which got renamed as Tokyo Tanabe Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd in 1943.
During 1921, Nippon Tar Industries was formed and renamed as Mitsubishi Chemical Industries Ltd in 1952. The business tie-up was signed by it with Tokyo Tanabe Pharmaceuticals in 1981 and was renamed as Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation after its amalgamation with Mitsubishi Petrochemical Co Ltd during 1984. Now Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation and Tokyo Tanabe Pharmaceutical Co officially amalgamated during 1999 forming Mitsubishi-Tokyo Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Then Mitsubishi-Tokyo Pharmaceuticals & Welfide Corporation amalgamated during 2001 to form Mitsubishi Pharma Corporation and then joined with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation for establishing Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation during October 2005. The company has its presence in various countries like US, European Union and Germany etc at present.
The main products of the company include agents for CNS, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, Metabolic, Biological and other segments like Depas -Doral; Bavlotensin - Cholebine; Cleanal - Surfacten; Omeprazon - Urso; Anplag - Heparin No Lock; Albumin - Neuart; and Pazucross – Zione respectively.
