P&G as popularly abbreviated and known across the world today, Procter & Gamble Co was established in the year 1837 having its headquarter located at One Procter & Gamble Plaza, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - jointly by the two migrants from England and Ireland respectively named as William Procter who was the candle maker by profession and James Gamble – the soap maker. The duo who met each other accidentally following their marriages with the two sisters named Olivia and Elizabeth Norris, had initially settled in Cincinnati.  

 

As the industry source for business of both the founders was same, the panic of 1837 developed severe competition between them which ultimately ended up in conflicts. Their father-in-law Alexander Norris encouraged them to enter into the partnership business following which on 31^st of October, 1837 the Procter & Gamble was constituted. Indeed the American Global enterprise, P&G today is one of the Fortune 500 companies. The company formulates the wide array of consumer goods. The company is ranked as 25^th largest American enterprise according to its revenues, 18^th largest based on profitability, and 10^th in the Fortune’s most adored list of companies in the United States.

 

P&G’s total operational systems have been grouped in three different Global Business Units since 1^st of July, 2007, like Beauty, Household Care and Health & Well-Being. Each of the same is again divided into ‘Business Segments’ based on the earning of the company as on June 2007.
