Since the establishment of Sankyo Co Ltd sometimes in the year 1899 and its incorporation during 1913, the work force of the company today is around 6,515 employees and has achieved the gross turnover of nearly 4.1 billion USD during the year 2002. The company’s principal policy is to greatly focusing on developing advanced drugs specifically those connected with cardiovascular ailments and thus striving to grow world-wide. The initial name of the company was Sankyo Shoten and the business line included importing of digestives from Park, Davis & Company of the United States which produced digestive enzymes and selling in Japan under agreed sales contracts.

 

Just after the span of 3 years, during 1905, the company started producing Taka-Diastase the digestive enzymes in its first manufacturing plant which was developed in Shinagawa, Tokyo in Japan during 1908. Several other products followed in due course like Vitamin B1 branded as Oryzanin, the cough depressant named Brocin and the disinfectant known as Oxyfull. The next following products included Salicylic acid which was used as the mild antiseptic or pain reliever, Arsaminol which was the Arsphenamine used for treating syphilis and other infections. Many more products followed thereafter making the company known all over the world.
